How to use demonize in a sentence?
We know from experience in the United States that once you demonize Chinese people, all Asian people living in this country face the brunt of that rhetoric, and you see it not just in spy balloons and the reactions surrounding it and TikTok and Huawei, but also in modern-day racist alien land laws.
Donald Trump can not come to Nevada and demonize immigrants, nevadans won't accept it, and it's a large part why Donald Trump did not win in Nevada in 2016 -- because Nevadans could not stomach the divisiveness and attacks on immigrants.
You demonize...we call it the wrap-up smear, you smear somebody with falsehoods and all the rest, and then you merchandise it and then you write it and say, See, it's reported in the press that this, this, and this... so they have that validation that the press reported the smear and then it's called a wrap-up-smear and the merchandise is the press' report on the smear we made. It's a tactic, and it's self-evident.
I certainly care what's in the bill. But ultimately, I think that's why people need to sit down and have conversations with each other. It's so disappointing that I see some of my colleagues who want to demonize and grab headlines more than even sit down and have a conversation and I don't understand that, what's upsetting is that there's not even conversation.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney:
I stand by what I said: This criminal is not representative of Islam. Period, i think candidates for office, particularly for president, should not demonize an entire group of Americans because of the actions of a violent criminal with a deranged view of what the Quran teaches -- and I also think it's particularly irresponsible to try and score political points off the attempted assassination of a Philadelphia police officer.
