How to use co2 in a sentence?
When we produce our light naphta we burn it in our car and we get some CO2, but this CO2 can be used to build new biomass and so we have a very short cycle, while crude oil will last a very long cycle to replace the crude oil.
On paper, it is simple to calculate the amount of CO2 emissions a ton of coal will produce and then to calculate the number of trees it takes to consume the CO2, the problem with that theory is that you have to train the CO2 molecules to go to those trees. . . maybe we only burn coal when the wind is blowing in that direction ? And, oh yes, the trees, he said. Are these mature, 40-foot oak trees they are planting, or more likely 16-inch pine seedlings ? Do they realize how long it will take to get a mature forest capable of consuming the CO2 ?
Up until now we have about 700 operating hours here at Klemetsrud and we have captured about 80 tonnes of CO2, and what is nice from this flue gas from Klemetsrud is the high content of the CO2, it's about 12 percent, volume percent, of CO2, it's fairly easy to capture. So up until now we have no problem with the process, it works very steady and so far all the test results look very promising.
Naturally, a lot of people when thinking about aviation and climate, they focus on the CO2 emitted, but, actually, it's much worse than that. CO2 is actually just the tip of the iceberg. The extra flight time is causing a lot more warming than the mileages I gave you because they only take into account the CO2, not the other non-CO2 effects.
So 300,000 tonnes comes here every year and we can capture 300,000 tonnes CO2 from those 300,000 tonnes of waste. So it's approximately one ton of CO2 per ton of waste that can be captured.
