English Synonyms and Antonyms
desire
Inclination is the mildest of these terms; it is a quiet, or even a vague or unconscious, tendency. Even when we speak of a strong or decided inclination we do not express the intensity of desire. Desire has a wide range, from the highest objects to the lowest; desire is for an object near at hand, or near in thought, and viewed as attainable; a wish may be for what is remote or uncertain, or even for what is recognized as impossible. Craving is stronger than hankering; hankering may be the result of a fitful and capricious appetite; craving may be the imperious and reasonable demand of the whole nature. Longing is a reaching out with deep and persistent demand for that which is viewed as now distant but at some time attainable; as, the captive's longing for release. Coveting ordinarily denotes wrong desire for that which is another's. Compare APPETITE.

How to use desire in a sentence?
True love is ever God's heart desire i.e. true love is what God greatly wishes for all humans including you. I mean, God longs that you will for life portray true love towards one another/someone else/others.
Facts in Prose When someone we love no longer desires us. We become emotionally damaged. Were consumed with torment every day. Within long-term relationships the lack of desire is commonplace. Women lose desire for their partner sooner than men. When your partner avoids or rejects kissing, their love has passed. Collect your pieces and move on.
Love is the lowest desire; because even animals understand the meaning of love and what it means to be loved.
As a teacher, the desire to teach is valuable, but the desire to educate is priceless.
John Steinbeck, The Pastures of Heaven, p 56:
After the bare requisites of living and reproducing, man wants most to leave some record of himself, a proof, perhaps, that he has really existed. He leaves his proof on wood, on stone, or on the lives of other people. This deep desire exists in everyone, from the boy who scribbles on a wall to the Buddha who etches his image in the race mind. Life is so unreal. I think that we seriously doubt that we exist and go about trying to prove that we do.
