How to use opec in a sentence?
The U.S. crude inventory numbers have been climbing for the last 10 straight weeks, sitting at their highest levels in 80 years. So that's a further supply side concern on top of news coming out of Kuwait, there doesn't seem to be any sign of OPEC doing anything to turn the taps off so it makes it hard to predict a floor (for oil prices).
(Oil) exporters often have very unbalanced economies and rely heavily on their commodities... Eventually, if oil prices signal that OPEC is losing pricing power and facing obsolescence, these regions don't have any diversification.
OPEC is looking at that – it has outsized importance.
Energy is very out of favor and there's a perception that it's a risky business because oil prices are likely to be low for a long period of time because of the market share war between OPEC and the U.S., but we see low volatility of demand and more discipline on the supply side.
Oil bulls are drawing heart from the strong employment data in the U.S., military action in Libya, which could disrupt supply from the OPEC member, also aided prices.
