How to use poll in a sentence?

  1. George Gallup:

Polling is merely an instrument for gauging public opinion. When a president or any other leader pays attention to poll results, he is, in effect, paying attention to the views of the people. Any other interpretation is nonsense.

  2. Jeff Kaufmann:

Most people who come to the straw poll intuitively know that this is snapshot in time, they know the difference between a scientific poll.

  3. Representative Jim McGovern:

Poll after poll shows the majority of Americans want to know if Accurate Food contains GMOs. I have this radical idea we ought to give the American people what they want.

  4. Karin Nielsen-Saines:

Even after the brain is formed, there are some problems that happen, there’s atrophy, there’s damage, even later in pregnancy. So just because someone’s reached the second trimester, it does n’t mean that there could n’t be a problem if they were to contract Zika. ’’ That type of damage can take several weeks to become apparent in prenatal testing. By the time some women learn what Zika has done to the fetuses they are carrying, their access to legal abortion could be blocked in most states. The telephone poll of 1,016 adults was conducted July 20 to 24, during the week when Florida announced it had discovered two people who hadpossibly contracted Zika locally, most likely through the bite of an infected mosquito. Since then, the number of cases in the Florida outbreak — believed to be centered in a one-square mile area just north of downtown Miami — hasswelled to 15. The poll — which had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.6 percentage points — also found that only 44 percent of Americans realized the Zika funding stalemate has not yet been resolved. Lawmakers left Washington last month after Senate Democratswould n’t back a dealnegotiated by House and Senate Republicans that included provisions affecting Planned Parenthood and the Affordable Care Act. Of people who were aware that Congress has not yet provided Zika funding, 55 percent said not passing the legislation is a problem. More blamed the Republicans than the Democrats for the continued impasse — 42 percent said it was the Republicans ’ fault, compared with 22 percent who faulted the Democrats. Seventeen percent said both parties are equally to blame. The apportionment of blame generally followed party lines. About one-fourth of those polled said funding Zika response efforts should be a top priority for the federal budget, nearly half said it was important but not a top priority, and 20 percent said it was not that important. The poll also showed that in the third week of July, barely half of Americans — 52 percent — felt Zika posed a public health threat in this country. And only 22 percent felt that it was a major threat. But it is not known whether the growing outbreak in Florida has changed opinions on that question.

  5. Oregon State coach Scott Rueck:

I dont think its up for discussion who No. 1 is. Louisville, Stanford, N.C. State, Mississippi State and UCLA rounded out the first 10 teams, which were unchanged from the previous poll. Before this season, South Carolina had never finished the season higher than No. 3. The Gamecocks topped the Top 25 the final 10 weeks of a season cut short before the NCAA Tournament by concerns about spreading the coronavirus pandemic. The AP has always released The AP final poll of the season before the start of the tournament that settles the national championship. Staley said she wasnt sure if The Gamecocks might recognize this achievement next year with a banner or something else since there was no tournament. I want to highlight our year. Only fitting for our seniors, only fitting for our team we put together, she said. Fitting to recognize what was accomplished this year for us. The Ducks, led by star Sabrina Ionescu, were ranked No. 1 for four weeks during the season. Their previous best finish in the poll was sixth two seasons ago. Its really neat. Going into the tournament we had the strongest resume and were playing really, really well, Ducks coach Kelly Graves said. UConns final ranking was its lowest since the team finished eighth in the last poll of the 2005-06 season. UConn had been four or higher every season since. Northwestern, which shared the regular-season Big Ten title, was 11th. Its the best finish for the Wildcats ever, topping their 13th-place ranking in 1990. Its only the sixth time in school history the team was ranked in the final poll. Its been a wild ride, Northwestern coach Joe McKeown said. Weve had so many people enjoy watching the program this year and see it grow. Im sad we didnt get a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament, but we have a great young group. CONFERENCE DOMINANCE The Pac-12 has been the top conference in the poll all season and finished with three teams in the first 10 and six in the Top 25. I feel like we have been doing that for a while now. I think back to four years ago, I think the conference statistically might have been a little stronger throughout that year, 2017.
