English Synonyms and Antonyms
fortitude
Fortitude (Latin fortis, strong) is the strength or firmness of mind or soul to endure pain or adversity patiently and determinedly. Fortitude has been defined as "passive courage," which is a good definition, but not complete. Fortitude might be termed "still courage," or "enduring courage;" it is that quality which is able not merely to endure pain or trial, but steadily to confront dangers that can not be actively opposed, or against which one has no adequate defense; it takes courage to charge a battery, fortitude to stand still under an enemy's fire. Resolution is of the mind; endurance is partly physical; it requires resolution to resist temptation, endurance to resist hunger and cold. Compare BRAVE; PATIENCE.

Ask yourself if you would have the fortitude of spirit, the courage of your convictions, and the enormous inner strength required to stand up and fight against such odds.
Fortitude is the guard and support of the other virtues.
I think it's them...Men. They have no fortitude. They're always dying or skedaddling off at the first sign of trouble. So tell me this, who is left to pick up the pieces, ship the body. clean out the closets Us And they have the audacity to call us the weaker sex.
eschew the desire for simplicity, and set your sights on fortitude’s ascent. Embrace obstacles, for within them lie the seeds of boundless potential. Rather than yearning for ease, crave the wisdom to navigate the labyrinth of challenges, and in their conquering, unveil the profound artistry of life’s intricate design.”
