As regards mental action, absorbed, abstracted, and preoccupied refer to the cause, absent or absent-minded to the effect. The man absorbed in one thing will appear absent in others. A preoccupied person may seem listless and thoughtless, but the really listless and thoughtless have not mental energy to be preoccupied. The absent-minded man is oblivious of ordinary matters, because his thoughts are elsewhere. One who is preoccupied is intensely busy in thought; one may be absent-minded either through intense concentration or simply through inattention, with fitful and aimless wandering of thought. How to use negligent in a sentence?
The reason I say this and the reason I'm getting emotional in this moment is because these folks who tell us to move on, that it's not a big deal, that we should forget what's happened, or even telling us to apologize. These are the same tactics of abusers. And, um, I'm a survivor of sexual assault, and I haven't told many people that in my life. But when we go through trauma, trauma compounds on each other. And so, whether you had a negligent or a neglectful parent, and -- or whether you had someone who was verbally abusive to you, whether you are a survivor of abuse, whether you experience any sort of trauma in your life, small to large -- these episodes can compound on one another.

We were disappointed about the charges themselves. They moved forward on negligent criminal homicide, we were both surprised and relieved to see charges going forward at all. It's been well past the normal time, well over a year since the incident happened. It caught us off guard, but it was a welcome relief.
It is puzzling to me as to why Maryland Child Protective Services continues to accuse these parents of being negligent under a law which seemingly applies to children being left alone in buildings or cars, now it appears Child Protective Services have stretched the law to apply to walking home from a school and to a playground ? I guess the question to consider is,' Is Child Protective Services the state's job to determine whether our children are independent enough to walk to and from the playground or is it the parent's decision ?'.
