Critical Metrics was a web-based music recommendation service. Unlike user-driven sites like The Hype Machine and Pandora, Critical Metrics featured only expert-generated content. Aggregating reviews and playlists from over 150 publications, both print and online, the site also encompassed historical sources. The site then ranked the songs mathematically, based on the information gathered. With a methodology based in the fields of bibliometrics and sentiment analysis, Critical Metrics quantified these positive citations and sentiments into indices for media playlisting and consumption. Streaming audio and YouTube videos were presented with the original recommendations, along with the option to purchase via iTunes or other online retailers. When the site was launched in April 2007, it hosted the streaming music itself. A licensing arrangement with Rhapsody removed the free music, but allowed unlimited listening and playlist-building for Rhapsody subscribers. Critical Metrics was founded by Joey Anuff, the co-founder of Suck.com and a former VH1 executive. The site was praised by Boing Boing, the Wall St. Journal, and Business Week.

Luminosity is generally understood as a measurement of brightness. Each discipline, however, defines the term differently, depending on what is being measured. In astronomy, luminosity measures the total amount of energy emitted by a star or other astronomical object per unit time. Thus the SI units of this definition of luminosity are joules per second, which are watts. A watt is one unit of power, and just as a light bulb is measured in watts, so too is the Sun, the latter having a total power output of 3.846×10^26 W. It is this number which constitutes the basic metric used in astronomy and is known as 1 solar luminosity, the symbol for which is . Radiant power, however, is not the only way to conceptualize brightness, so other metrics are also used. The most common is apparent magnitude, which is the perceived brightness of an object from an observer on Earth at visible wavelengths. Other metrics are absolute magnitude, which is an object's intrinsic brightness at visible wavelengths, irrespective of distance, while bolometric magnitude is the total power output across all wavelengths. The field of optical photometry uses a different set of distinctions, the main ones being luminance and illuminance. Astronomical photometry, by contrast, is concerned with measuring the flux, or intensity of an astronomical object's electromagnetic radiation. In the field of computer graphics the concept of luminosity is different altogether, a synonym in fact for the concept of lightness, otherwise known as the value or tone component of a color.

|Gasoline gallon equivalent|
Gasoline gallon equivalent
Gasoline gallon equivalent or gasoline-equivalent gallon is the amount of alternative fuel it takes to equal the energy content of one liquid gallon of gasoline. GGE allows consumers to compare the energy content of competing fuels against a commonly known fuel—gasoline. GGE also compares gasoline to fuels sold as a gas and electricity. In 1994, the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology or NIST defined "gasoline gallon equivalent means 5.660 pounds of natural gas." Compressed natural gas, for example, is a gas rather than a liquid. It can be measured by its volume in Standard cubic feet, by its weight in pounds or by its energy content in joules or British thermal units or kilowatt-hours. It is difficult to compare the cost of gasoline with other fuels if they are sold in different units. GGE solves this. A GGE of CNG and a GGE of electricity all have the same energy content as one gallon of gasoline. CNG sold at filling stations is priced in dollars per GGE. Using GGE to compare fuels for use in an internal combustion engine is only the first part of the equation whose bottom line is useful work.

GoMoto helps dealers adapt to a new buying experience while allowing them to effectively generate premium-level leads, increase sales, and attract loyal service customers outside the walls of their showrooms.GoMoto brings strategic vehicle collections (ex: entry level luxury sedan, SUV, midsize sedan) based on market intelligence to consumers in non-sales environments such as malls, big box retail, office building lobbies, airports, concerts, stadiums and college campuses. Our patented experiential displays and smartphone app enable consumers to compare similar models side by side like never before. Our members can enter these vehicles, feel the seats, smell the leather, compare the shades of red, build a buyer profile complete with likes, dislikes, buying preferences (lease vs. buy), and also test drive the vehicles on-site without the presence of a salesman. GoMoto members gain exclusive access to a streamlined buying experience that includes pre-negotiated pricing with our dealer partners, ultimately avoiding showroom anxiety.

A Steilhang (pl: Steilhänge) is a geoscientific term for a steep mountainside or hillside (or a part thereof), the average slope of which is greater than 1:2 or 30°. Leser defines a steilhang as a mountainside with an incline of between 16° and 60°, slopes of between 30° and 60° being described as "very steep" (übersteil) and anything over 60° being a rock face (wand). The term is German for "steep slope/mountainside/hillside", "escarpment" or "steep face". The word hang in this compound is derived from hängen, "to hang". Also compare the British English word hanger (from Old English hangra) for a steep wooded slope (compare Hanger Lane), or used to mean woods on steep hillsides, e.g. for the East Hampshire Hangers.
